yes, those are the Mopar brand steps, and best thing to do is put the hangers up first, start the nut on each bolt, and snake the nut in the hole, and use a screwdriver to hold the nut in place. do that with all the hangers then once u get the steps on the hangers and tightened down, go through and tighten all the other bolts. also, where u located if u in southern illinois i can come by and show u how to slap em together right quick. but hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the offer but i'm in Houston i'm afraid.... I hear what ya saying but i think that sucks if that is how a motor manufacturer designs their accesories. How are you supposed to do the brace bars on the front and rear hangers then? THe oval shaped nut needs to go through a square hole... Just try and use the same method????

Cheers,
Richard.

If it is a square hole then you have the wrong hole. There are oval holes all the way down the interior side of the rocker panel. Mine had black tape on them so I had to take that off.

Yeah thats exactly what i have but there are also brace bars that add additional support to the two end brackets... i can only get them to fit near the square hole near the suspension turret..

Cheers,
Richard.

If you think it will help I can take some pics of how mine are attached and attempt to post them. I haven't posted pics yet, but I can probably figure it out. Let me know.

Ricco, can you take a pic and post? I know what braces your are talking about but I don't remember there being a square hole there on the inside of the rocker panel.

The big mistake that I made when trying to put the bracket and brace on the front was that I was using the wrong body mount. I was using the one in the middle instead of the one closest to the front wheel. That caused me some major frustration.

yep those are MOPAR steps... but at the same time those instructions make total sense to me. Once you have put the bolt thru the bracket hole and then thread the "rectangular plate/nut" onto the end of the bolt, you put the rectangle into the body hole and then as you start to turn it. I would suggest pulling on it while turning so that the edges of the rectangle will eventually "bite" into the metal and then you will be able to tighten it up. One thing that would probly help would be to tighten each rectangle all the way up/down its matching bolt off the truck first to help clear the threads of any paint or burrs so they might turn more freely. Using a screwdriver might help if you could get it in there to help keep it from spinning around and around... but other than that I dont see much else you can do.

Hey dont feel bad, I have installed other MOPAR accessories that had far worse instructions with even worse methods of installation. Some of the mid 90's Rams had steps that required you to drill a hole through the pinchweld below the door area for one end of the steps bracketry. It was apparent to me at the time that this would only lead to premature rusting along with only leaving about 1/8 inch of metal before the bolt could simply break thru. But that was the best that some brilliant Chrysler employee could come up with then.
