I've got the Mopar steps on mine. I'll take a look later today and see if I can't let you know how they mounted them.

I took a look under my truck this evening, and I have no idea how installed them. There are holes in the chasis in the vicinity of where the brackets are installed, but it's beyond me how they were able to hold the nut in place while they tightened the bolt. Fortunately for me I had the Mopar steps included in the deal. Sorry I couldn't help you out. Good luck though.
I used to install these for the dealership and the bolt actually goes up through the body instead of the nut, they should have included a long stiff piano wire with a coil at one end that you thread the bolt onto then you thread the loose end through the open body hole into the mounting hole and pull it thru till the bolt is sticking out the hole. Make sure you put the lock washer onto the bolt before you start threading it so it will lock in place once you start tightening the nut.
Edit: Wow, I must have been tired last night because I didnt sound so clear to even myself when I read what I typed above... The bolt comes down through the body mounting hole, you pull it through using the piano wire with the coil on the end. Most people havent a clue why they include the wire w/the coil at one end.
I drew a basic diagram as to what I am talking about, its crude but it should explain what I am saying.

Thanks for the tips although it just doesn't seem to add up with the parts/holes in my truck that i have...
The Nut is more like an oval shaped peice of metal with a threaded hole in the middle of it, this is supposed to fit through an oval shaped hole in the bodywork and then you bolt the supports to it.. (that is my understanding anyways) but once you put the nut through into the bodywork i don't know how to stop it spinning round. I did a drawing too to try and show you what I mean...
The brace bars at either end are even worse.. the same shaped nut is supposed to go through a square shaped hole and then bolt the brace bar to that but same old story with stopping it spinning. I can't see anywhere that i would be able to pull the bolt through with piano wire (no wire in my kit either) plus the bolt would fall straight through the square hole where the brace bars bolt to...
I will take some photos tonight of what i have and post them up
Hopefully some pics will be able to help.
Cheers,
Richard.
Forgot to say that i didn't get any lock washers either from what i can remember!

use a thin screwdriver and stick it up through the hole to keep the nut from spinning. i used to work at a dodge dealer and thats i used to install them. also helps to use an air ratchet. but this method only works if they are the Mopar brand boards.
Yeah steps are new, bought from the Dodge dealer so i guess they are the Mopar ones?? Have the Dodge logo on them anyways..
Can't hold the Nut with a screwdriver cos once the bracket is there, it covers the rest of the hole.. Surely wedging it with a screwdriver isn't a suitable method of fitting factory branded sidesteps?
Cheers,
Richard.
