Default A/C Problems please help

I have an 07 cummins with a 5.9L my air conditioner has recently stopped on one of the hottest weeks we have had all summer. I checked fuses they are good. A/C turns by hand. I figured it needed a recharge so I got the kit and when I hooked it up gauge shot to max. Any ideas on what my problem could be would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Does it work when driving but not when parked or stopped at a light? Or not at all?

Doesn't work at all not even when defrost is on. Seems like clutch fan grabs when I got the ac button on like it should but ac won't kick in.

What do you mean by "shot to max?" Because having TOO much freon in your compressor can damage it.

It might be a good start to check for any DTC's. There are sensors such as the evap temp sensor, if it went bad would prevent the system from energizing the clutch for the compressor.

If it has that much pressure initially, most likely there isn't a Freon problem, at least in part.

Honestly, if you don't have any idea how the system is designed to work and/or have access to a FSM for the truck, you might be ahead taking it to a shop to at least diagnose the problem. It could be something as simple as a bad relay in the FCM (fuse box) under the hood. Try changing any two of them out for the compressor relay (they're all the same relays)

Don't think he has any codes present. It's probably either your clutch cycle switch, lo-side pressure switch, or your a/c clutch relay.

Does anybody know if you can order just the clutch for these things or do you have to get a whole new assembly

We don't carry AC parts here, I just went through this on my 97 Grand Cherokee. I found a brand new OE assembly on EBay for like 100 bucks. It works awesome.
