RE: lowering my daytona 4X4
McGaughys and DJM make kits to lower 4x4 rams. I still dont get why people are so agianst lowering a 4x4 vehicle. If you dont offroad and purchased 4whl drive to get thru snow or to pull your boat off a slick ramp whats the big deal with lowering a 4x4 for better street handling ? Anyway to each there own and Im sure this will continue to be a debate until the end of time. Its your ride -your paying the bill-do wtf you want to it if it makes you happy.

I dont think its so much that people are ranting on lowering a 4x4, I think its more why would you buy one in the first place if all you were going to do is lower it.
I like AWD vehicles. I would like to see it on more vehicles. I just dont see how lowering a 4x4 is really going to help its handling. Its already a 4x4, and its usually sitting a lil more aggressively then some vehicles.

If you lower a vehicle properly and not change the stock geometry it can only improve handling. The lower center of gravity will always make cornering -sway-and aerodynamics improve if "streetability" is what your looking for. Obviously giving your 1500 a 2x4 drop will not allow it to hang thru the cones with a Acura NSX but it will do better then a stock height 1500. If your idea of handling is washboard firetrials and bouncing down sand dunes then no your handling wouldnt improve.

i dont live in the hills, and i would jack a 4x4 as high as i could get that baby in the air but i just dont understand if u wanna level it out, just turn the torsion bars underneath or get a spacer kit and stick in the front springs, much easier then goin through the hassle of lowering a 4x4, plus u can only lower it so far before having to worrying about drive angles, and so on. but it's your truck, just throwin in my 2 cents worth

Only fools and morons lower a 4x4 truck. They dont make any lowering kits to my knowledge for a 4x4 Ram. I know there are kits for a 4x2
If you are seriously considering this, you should use another truck. You not only would wind up spending more money then you should, chances are it would be all custom work to make it work 100%.

I am so sick and tired of people knocking others that want to lower their 4x4, first of all not all people get a 4x4 to go offroad, or to be tall, or have an extention of thier *****.
Like me I am lowering my 4x4 due to the fact that I like lowered trucks, they look sleek and stealthy, however due to the fact that I don't live in florida or hawaii, and I live in NWOhio I need the added traction of the 4x4 system. I am doing it for 2 reasons, to improve the look of the truck, to add traction, and to be different, Ok 3 reasons
The statement of saying"why would anyone lower a 4x4, they are just moron's" is like saying why in world would you lift a 4x2? "that's pointless"
to each their own. Stop hatin' and appreciate the beauty.

ummm.... isn't the rear suspension on the 2x4 and the 4x4 the same? If so a set of drop shakles will reduce your rake for about $60 plus install... if you want to drop your front an inch or two loosening your torsion bars should do that for you... all in all you can drop her about 2 inches for $150 in parts and labor...
as to whether I would do it?... frankly no... I drive a leveled 2X4 on 22's and really want a slightly lifted 4x4 to sit next to it in the driveway, but then i do not live in MI anymore and 4x4 is a luxary as opposd to a neccesity down here, and I am going to buy a CTS-V or camaro z-28 or GTO to take up the space currently filled by my lincoln once I get the Ram paid off.
