4WD isn't necessary for NJ winters, but ground clearance is.
With the tires on the Daytona, it'll be hard enough driving it as is in the snow, lowering would make it worse.
I've made it through the last 23 winters without 4WD. As long as the vehicle was high enough to clear the snow, I had no problems.
It's also the only reason I won't drive my vette in the snow, it becomes a snow plow.

yeah there is another reason why i don't drive my vette in the winter either......that's cuz i don't have one, THAT IS THE ONLY THING STOPPING ME

yeah I've made it about 8 of the 9 winters I have been here. until we got my wife a 01 grand cherokee and let me tell you 4 wheel traction is awesome, that's why i got my ram 4x4

My Ram Daytona will be arriving this week and I have the same question about lowering it a bit (1 or 2"). I see that a lot of people are critical about lowering a 4x4 and here's my explanation. I would have bought an SRT-10 but winter tires are not available in 22" size and I absolutely need to drive it in winter. Around here we don't have deep snow but we have enough snow and ice to make getting around much easier with a 4x4. We also have a thing called ice autocross which is racing around pylons on a frozen lake. The tech inspectors have a formula for what vehicle is allowed and what isn't based on centre of gravity, a Ram Daytona shortbox regular cab would make a wicked ice autocross vehicle but stock ride height is too high for them to allow me to race. The recent race had a Trailblazer SS in it and I would love to kick his butt in my Daytona.

Who gives a rats *** what anyone else thinks. Do what ever you want to your truck that suits your taste. You don't have to explain to anyone why you made the decisions that you made. Besides I kinda like the way the Daytona looks slammed to the ground regardless of being a 2X or 4X.

Good luck!

I'm sure there is... however lowering a 4x4 truck is NOT a good idea. I don't understand Dodge's motive on making a STREET truck with 4x4
SRT-10 Ram NOT AVAILABLE IN 4x4
WHY MAKE A DAYTONA IN 4x4?!?!

GOOD ADVICE: DONT lower it. Leave it.
I OWN A 05 DAYTONA RAM 4WD ,IT IS WICKED FUN TO DROP THAT BABY IN FOUR LOW AND BREAK TRAIL ACROSS A FIELD OF FRESH SNOW ALL 4 TIRES KICKING UP SNOW,AND THE SOUND OF THE HEMI.....PRICELESS THERE NOT JUST FOR THE STREETS ANYMORE

I ordered the lowering kit(2"f/4"r) from Summit last week and it arrives Wednesday, I hope my truck looks as great as yours.
