Default My 2wd thinks it's a 4wd

So after I got the grey ghost put back together from her water pump issues, I notice the service 4wd light on. The truck is a 2wd, after calling the dealership and letting them check the vin to make sure it's not a 4wd (because obviously I wouldn't know) they say they have no idea but for $400 theyll trouble shoot and diagnose the problem for me, anyone with a 2wd have this issue?

That's weird...do you know anyone with a DRBIII or something similar? If you were closer I'd do it. Should just clear out.

A mid-level scanner will include a cable. $80 or less at Advance, O'Reilly's, etc.

The ones I found online were $3000 and up I'll let it sit overnight with the battery cables off, if that doesn't fix it I'll go check out autozone

That's b/c you're looking for a DRB-III Scanner... you wont find those cheap...

The ones he's talking about in the $80 range are OBD-II Scanners.... which might help you if you get one that has built-in diagnostic tests.

Might be time to go see the dealer though... they might have seen this problem before in their database.... but $400 is Outrageous for a diagnostics fee.... usually its only $95....
