Default Transmission reading

I have a 2003 ram 1500. I ran the diagnostics on it Friday, & it came up with P0700 transmission control system (MIL reqest). What sensor do I need to replace.

P0700 is a generic code for a transmission failure.
Normally this codes is generated, when the transmission is placed in limp mode.
From memory either 2nd or 3rd gear is selected, to allow the vehicle to get home/off the freeway without damaging the transmission.
You need to use a star scan tool to get deeper into the diagnostics, to pull up whats wrong with your transmission.

Do you havea programmer? If not go to Autozone, they can pull all the codes. As abarmby said, p0700 is a generic trans fault. There should be at least one (if not more) specific codes to accompany it. Pray it isn't 0733 & 0734.

I changed the filter, & replaced the pressure sensor, ran the scanner again I received P0700, P0731, P0733, P0841, P0846, & P0876. I need to take my Truck into the shop now.

0700 - general trans fault
0731 - Incorrect 1st Gear Ratio
0733 - Incorrect 3rd Gear Ratio
0841 - low range pressure switch rationality fault
0846 - 2-4 or 2C Pressure Switch Rationality
0876 - Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch rationality

You will always get 0700 when anything goes wrong with the trans. 0731/0733 sounds like a sensor is getting conflicting info. The last 3 I've never even heard of.

If the filter o-ring didn't seat properly, it can suck air and cause low pressure and slippage. It is a common issue it seems.
