Default Factory 20s

I have a set of chrome factory 20s the kinda rolled style an it seems like they have clear coat on em or somethin? An it's pealing? An it's oxidizing? How can I get em to shine like factory I like how they look if they were cleaned up

That is a plastic cover.

I don't think mine are mine are aluminum solid rims no covers on mine I don't think

nope they are a plastic cover.all these style of rims are.I have some and they are the same way.do a search on here and you'll find out what other people did

I had a set of 06 an newer 20s an yea they did have covers these came off an 02 an when I smack the spokes these don't sound like the 06 an newer ones did u could tell they were covers but these sound solid like it's an solid aluminum rim with polished spokes I mean I
May be wrong but that's what they sound like

I checked into getting my factory 17's refinished at a local paint shop for the very same reasons. The guy quoted me nearly the price of a new wheel.


You might consider getting them unmounted, then take them to a sandblasting company and having the clear coat removed, then getting them powder coated or repainted to a color you like with base coat/clear coat or similar.


I'm looking into getting the steel wheels on my dually blasted then epoxy coated by a company up near where I work, they do industrial tank coating.

When I had my 04 I had the same rims and same problem. I can't help you with your problem but I can tell you I had no plastic covers over mine. I think they started the covers in 05.

Yea I think these kind are petal rims an they have no covers I don't think....mine seems to have clear coat on em or something an if I can get it off I'll wet sand em an polish em back up

Not all. My original 03 flower petal 20's are polished aluminum. Some of the newer 20's on the lastest 4th gens are as well.

They might not. From the pic it looks like the clear coat is crazing on you. I have thse marks around the lug holes and valve stems.

How the best way to get em back polished? Remove the clear coat?
