Default What in the world IS THIS??

2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L 2WD

I hope someone can help me. I have no idea what the proper name for this is. Behind the throttle body, the plastic box on top of the intake manifold, I've found this huge whole. I honestly have no idea if it is supposed to be like that or not. I would image the answer is NO!. I have no idea what happened either.

I took off the resonator box to change the MAP sensor and I just happened to notice this hole. In case you're wondering, yes my truck has been running like sh*t. I have a rough idle, engine shake, and lean running engine on startups only. This only happens when the engine is cold. I'm guessing it only happens when cold because the O2 sensor kicks on at 700 degrees and sends a signal back to the PCM to adjust the fuel trim. Which led me to think the Intake Manifold has a leak.

But then I found this gaping hole and think, holy sh*t that's gotta be it right? It looks like a plastic cap has broken off or something, but I can't find any images or documentation on it.

Any Help please? Can anybody post a pick of this same area of their truck? Does it have a hole, cap or what?

Where does the metal tube go to? Do you have any links or pics you could share?

Thanks for your feedback.

Not on an '03, the '03 Hemi is the red headed step child. The PCV is the thing on top with the flat grab/twist handle.

Normal '03 Hemi:

[QUOTE=HammerZ71;3260931]Not on an '03, the '03 Hemi is the red headed step child. The PCV is the thing on top with the flat grab/twist handle.

So what is that port to the bottom left of the blue flat grab/twist handle (ie PCV)?? It's hard to tell in the pick you posted below, but it looks like that one has a cap in it? I just have a hole in mine. I'm searching through my Haynes manual and on google and I can't find anything that describes that port.

Yes, the blue thing is the PCV valve. It's been a few years since I've made a CAI for an '03 so I'm not sure if that hole in the side is capped or not. I wanna say no.

Have any CELs? Truck running good? If so, leave it the f*ck alone...
