Probably the PCM sees it as two potentially different problems. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it don't.

I would go the the dealer, get a crank sensor from them, swap it out, clear codes, and drive it a bit, and see what comes back.

Thank you! I will start there. Always best to start with the least expensive things first. What about the EGR valve? And are you saying I should always get my replacement parts from Dodge directly?

For sensors and such, yeah, they ARE more expensive, but, unlike most of the aftermarket fellers, they actually work....

Your truck doesn't appear to be whining about the EGR valve, so, I wouldn't touch that just yet.

get a battery a 12V lamp and start the cable checking to see if the lamp lights. don't use the instrument as the cable maybe degraded.

Hey everyone. I changed my crankshaft sensor that I bought directly from the dealer. Also just replaced my ignition coil A. Had to disconnect the battery first. When I fire the truck up all codes are gone now. Is that because I disconnected the battery? Possibly it was just the two parts the whole time? Not a mechanic, just not scared to research and replace my own parts.

If the battery was disconnected for several minutes, it will clear the codes. If the problem remains, the codes will reappear. If not, and the issues seem resolved, you've fixed it!

I sure hope so. Haven't driven it yet. Will here in a few to see if any codes are thrown. And it was disconnected for about 10 minutes while I replaced the ignition coil. So that's probably why the CEL is now off. Fingers crossed.

Yep, that will clear codes, and anything else in the PCM's memory. Drive it, see what happens.
