Default 2008 dodge ram EGR valve issues

Have a 2008 dodge ram 5.7. Check engine light came on, had the P1404 code that the EGR is sticking. Replaced the EGR with aftermarket, light still on. Cleaned tube and throttle body light still on. Any ideas? Should I have of went with mopar EGR?

disconnecting the battery does not clear codes on modern vehicles as the codes may be stored in keep alive memory. clear the codes with a scan tool before you do anything.

There is lot of info online says that disconnecting the battery clears the code. The light has gone off so it must work. It keeps coming back on since there is still an issue. I will be installing the new egr over the weekend wth new gaskets really hope fixes the problem. I don't know what else to check if light comes back.

I called 3 dealers they all said to disconnect battery to clear code. I cant see how all 3 are saying the wrong thing?

Because they're all idiots lol. I don't let dealers touch any of my vehicles unless I absolutely have to. You either have to have so many start/run cycles for a code to possibly clear itself, however for immediate gratification you have to go in and clear it. If you have a tuner you can clear an EGR code. Or you can just stare at it after people have told you what you need to do. Your truck and choice.

Parts store scanners should be able to clear codes as well.
