Drive Shaft Center Support Premature Wear
I have a 2004 Hemi with 140K miles. I'm in need of my 4th center support. IMO the truck is not even worked very hard. Have any of you had the same issue?? My father in law has the diesel version of the same truck and his original support still looks like new. He has 90K miles and tows horses and tractor trailer. The first time I replaced it I also replaced all the universal joints with ones that have a grease fitting. The second one I decided to have the drive line service replace the center support in case I pressed it on wrong. They say's that sometimes it's common for some people to just go through these parts while others get more mileage. Really?? This place has been in business for many years and has a good reputation. I asked if there was a better manufacture of the part and they said no. fwiw the truck rides very smooth. Any advice or experiences will be appreciated.
Thx!

When I worked at the Chevy Dealership, we had a truck with a two-piece driveshaft that would quite literally eat center support bearings in a month. And those were dealer parts, installed at the dealer..... We went so far as to replace the entire driveshaft, including the center bearing. It lasted 6 weeks. At that point, we just had the local driveline shop make us a 1 piece shaft for the truck. Installed that, and he never had a problem with it again. Not sure if that option would work for you.....
