I have an '07 Dodge Ram. My AC is not cooling as it should. It gets cool but not cold. I noticed the high pressure line is icing up from the firewall to about half way to the core support. I have pressure readings of 70-75 on the low side and 80 -95 on the high side at 80 degree outside temperature. What might my problem be?

That is with the compressor running, clutch engaged after running for about 5 minutes with everything on high.

 

Then something really isn't right there. Your high side pressure should be north of 200..... and its not..... So, either the compressor is failing, or perhaps the orifice tube has blown out.

 

I was leaning towards the Orifice tube being the problem but I don't know much about AC work. I watch a bunch of videos to determine that.

 

Yeah, I am not even sure it's replaceable by itself..... may have to replace the entire line.

Yeah, that gets expensive in a hurry.

 

Probably the compressor. Orifice tube will spike the pressure, unlike an expansion valve which can spike or equalize it.

 

Orifice could be plugged half way or dirty.
