Hi, I am going to be replacing the cables on my 04 1500 4WD, I want to rplace from inside the cab back so all of the cables.
Any Tips?
How do I adjust the cables when I am done?
What about the shoes?

Often the actuators in the backplate are crusty and won't close/open properly. Have to pull out the axles to get those actuators out.

I know that my 04 1500 gave me some issues, the local parts stores didn't match up the shoes. Turns out I had what they termed was 05 brakes.

Yes. If your doing that I would start by getting the rear rotors off and inspecting e brake shoes and backing plate. If you happen to be in an area where road salt is used those backing plates may be done. Good luck

I replaced the shoes and hardware a couple years ago, The cables are rusted pretty good where they hook to each other, I want to put fresh cables on. I was wondering if there are any tricks to replacing them, Should I lube up the adjusters and stuff also inside the Rotor/Drum? The backing plates have a little rust but this truck is a pretty clean truck.

I replaced the front cable on my 2nd gen. Paused for a little trying to get the cable out of the foot pedal, but it comes out w/o removing the footpedal. You want a new grommet where it goes through the floor, and might was well make sure the steel in that area is clean and painted. You'll need to expose the parking brake shoes and all to get the new rear cables installed, I'd clean up all that stuff and make sure you've got no rust back there.

Good luck!

On my 3 Rd gen The cable hooks on the outside of the backing plate no need to take it apart as far as I can see, I am wondering how it goes though the floor and how it adjusts where cables hook together.

It just passes through slot in the floor, almost parallel to the floor through a rubber grommet. Then there is an attachment from one cable to two, and the adjuster is basically a threaded rod on that attachment. Look under the driver side of the truck, its on the other side of the frame. Should be quite obvious how it works.
