Default 3rd gen ram 1500 full time 4x4 /awd conversion

Was wondoring if there was any way of converting my 02 ram 1500 4x4 to be 4x4 all the time like a chevy silverado ss. My truck has a 4.7l v8 and a 45rfe the reason i want to do this is because i have it turbocharged and it is almost impossible to drive in the rain without spinning the tires and i want better traction at the drag strip

Just put it in 4x4 when you need the extra traction. Those awd/full time 4x4 systems are more trouble than what their worth.

That's just not a good idea on pavement......... tends to break things.

Need a transfer case that offers 'full time' 4wd. NV242 springs immediately to mind. It came in jeeps and durangos for several years, so, they are out there, you can get mechanical, or electronic shifting, though I would advocate for the mechanical. A lot less hassel. Integrating it into the trucks electronics might be interesting though......

As long as you going straight, being in 4x4 won't hurt anything, diesel drag trucks have been doing it for 20 years.

Diesel drag trucks? Kind of an apples to hand grenades comparison, don't ya think?

Not to mention having to pay attention to it constantly. I would much rather be able to just yank on the stick, and forget about it.

No not at all, they have part time 4x4 just like the 1500 does, and the OP mentioned drag racing.

Its mostly a street driven truck , at the drag strip i wouldnt care if i used 4x4 once and awhile ,but im looking for something i can drive all the time in 4wd so in any condition on dry or wet pavement i will have traction . Just like the trail blazer ss , gmc typhoon and cyclone, or the 1990s 5.9 magnum jeep grand cherokee

Then the NP242 would be your best option then. You don't want that full time only np249 case that came in the V8 Grand Cherokees, its a piece of junk, I have one and I'm in the process of changing it out for an NP242.
