Default Air Conditioning Issue-Help!

Hey all,
I have a 2006 Dodge Ram Quad Cab with the Hemi that has 100k miles on it. Over the past month or so I have noticed that when I turn the truck on and turn the AC on it takes a while for the AC to blow cold. It blows fine. It just blows hot air at first and maybe after 5-20 minutes it will start cooling down. I am thinking that it is either the relay going bad or low on freon. Any ideas or thoughts? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
David

When it starts cooling down, is that while you are driving, or parked?

Check the refrigerant, the ac compression clutch is kicking in, and that the dedicated a/c condenser fan is operating.

Huh, typically it's the opposite in these trucks... I wonder if the ac condenser fan is running, or if the relay is shot...

Yep, probably the a/c condenser fan. Check to see if the a/c condenser fan is running when you are parked with the a/c on.
Fan motor is fairly easy to replace and not expensive.
But also check to see that the compressor is spinning, and that you can hear the a/c relay click when the a/c is turned on.

Autozone carries the motor, I believe manufacturer is VDO and pn is 523.
