If you want to drive it, you need to either fix it, or replace it. No way to just take it out, and have the truck be driveable.

What's wrong with the t-case??

the gears are showing through the back of it. i have the front drive shaft removed because it was making a terrible noise while driving. i dont need 4wd, so im pretty sure i can just drive it, just dont know if the transfer case will do anything to the transmission.

Gears are showing thru the back of it???? You need to replace that. There probably isn't any fluid left in it, so, it is only a matter of time before it blows itself into chunks. And probably not very long at that.

Because there is still other stuff in there turning. It still has to spin the rear drive shaft, and all that stuff is up top, if you have holes in the bottom, there is no fluid, so, no lubrication. That will munch up bearings right quick. It is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when. It IS going to grenade, and then use the rear drive shaft as a pogo stick. That is NOT safe to drive.

it doesnt make noise anymore after i took the front shaft off. and the connector spins freely by hand and i can see the chain inside moving and not hitting anything. so the transfer case powers the rear drive shaft all the time? i thought the transmission did that...

Power has to go through the transfer case to get to the rear driveshaft. With no fluid it will burn out the bearings and cause a catastrophic failure.
