So has anyone replaced this Bushing?
If so where is it located (what end on the shaft) and how did you replace it?

The diagram really isn't very clear about where that bushing is supposed to be, but, I would guess it would be just inside where the seal is. There HAS to be something to support that end of the stub axle. Maybe the dealer has a better pic? Or a service manual.

 

I gave the dealer my VIN # and they showed me the same diagram you have. But he is "just the parts guy" and has no idea where the bushing goes.

 

See if they will let you have a look at the service manual. Or, just get one for your truck..... They are handy to have.

 

So number 4 is blown. What are you gonna do about it? I am trying to understand the oem logic as to why 4 is a bushing rather than a roller bearing. I am stumped.

 

Right there with ya. I would expect that if it were a lubrication issue, the bushing would suffer premature wear as well. I wonder if the bearing for the drivers side, is the same diameter as the bushing on the passenger side..... I would be much more comfy with a bearing there, instead of a bushing.

 

Well I ordered a factory service manual, it is on its way. I also ordered the bushing and seal from dodge, gonna pick it up on Monday $68.00. Will have to wait and take it apart to see how it goes back together.
