Default 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 OVERHEATING!!!

We've replaced the entire cooling system, even put in a lower operating temp thermostat and it still over heats. Please help I'm at a loss.

My bad. It's a 5.7L V8 Hemi. New Radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, new water pump, switched from clutch fan to electric fan. It overheats at idle and while driving as well u til you can keep the rpms up but still doesn't cool off enough.

Did you switch to electric fan because of overheating? Is it turning on properly? Are you just going by dash Guage or is it boiling over?

We switched to electric because of overheating and because that's what he wanted in the truck. It is turning properly and is powerful. The dash gauge is correct when it's reading that it's hot and it is boiling over as well.

Ok. I think my next step would be to check for combustion gases in the antifreeze......which would indicate a head gasket failure or cracked cylinder head. Not sure if there are test kits you can buy in your area or you may have to visit a rad shop. When cold you could try removing gas cap with engine running check for unnecessary bubbles. This isn't always a good trustworthy test tho.

Okay. We also think there is gasoline in the oil.

If the oil is frothy foamy like a milkshake that would indicate coolant

It's not coolant. It's gasoline.

Running excessively rich. That seems really strange when combined with the overheating issue. Have you plugged a scanner in, to see what the PCM thinks temp is?
