Default Tire sizing help - 20x9 wheels

As some of you may remember my username from years ago. I recently acquired a 2006 2500 MegaCab after having my 2nd gen 2500 5.9 gas for a couple of years.

I recently picked up KMC wheels - 20x9 with 0 (zero) offset and I am looking to put 33s tires in there. Would these tires work below and which one will give me best fitment?

285/55R20 (32.5" tall)
285/60R20 (33.5' tall)

The 55 series tires are going to be wider, so, greater chance of rubbing on various things under the front fenders. Not much of an issue out back.

I see but seeing that my wheels are zero at offset which should push my wheel further away from truck. I will have to test fit the wheel to see how much room I get.

Maybe you may have a different tire size recommendation for 33s?

Those wheels have 4.5 inches of backspacing, which, I think, is pretty close to stock..... what size were your original wheels?

The original wheels are 17 inch (265/70R17). I am well versed with wheel fitments/tires on german cars but trucks are different world when it comes to modifying something.

The theory is all the same though. You just have more room to play with.

Ok, stock wheels were (WAG) 8 inch wide, with 42mm offset, which translates to about 2.5 inch backspacing..... you are going in two inches deeper, but, the wheels are an inch wider. So, they will actually end up being 1 inch further into the wheel well. (that seems weird, but, that's what the math says..... ) Think I would be concerned about them hitting things at the back of the wheel well.

With some measurement and calculators, I think 275/60R20 is more safe side in terms of width and at 33'' tall. What do you think? Also in that size, the price is lower over 285 width pricing.

Yeah, those will be tall, but narrower. Should be a good compromise.

I think I will take chance on 285/60r20 because heavy duty is naturally higher off the ground and that should give me room to run up to 34s on stock wheels. I also found someone on a group in facebook and they said they have no issue running 33 x 12.5

275/60R20 is the standard size for a 20" wheel from the factory. They are 33" tall.
