Before I commence the transmission swap in a few weeks after gathering all the parts in.
I picked up 25k miles RWD 545rfe from a 2004 Ram 2500. Is RWD transmission direct fit and play after converting 4x4 by transferring the tailpiece from old transmission? It will be going into my 06 ram 2500.
I just need confirmation that the RWD tailpiece can be removed and then converted to 4x4 pieces from the old transmission and ready to be installed.
Same trans. Pull tailshaft off, swap transfer case adapter on. One was from a 2wd, the other 4wd:
With t-case adapter bolted on:
These pics are from 2012. Just had to do it again for the 3rd time (hate this trans). Didn't have the garage space so I took it to a local shop. Was fun explaining how they're the same trans to the OWNER. He did apologize though, admitted he knew absolutely nothing about RFE's. At least they did a good job swapping everything.
Just throw a bead of the same sealant you use for the pan on the sealing surface for the t-case adapter. In the first pic you can see where the factory sealant was.
should work fine.... do a quick learn after install.....if you dont have a scanner that codes
this scanner will do the quick learn. its a Chinese piece of junk .. but its cheap and does about everything... https://braydentechs.com/dodge-jeep-...vel-scan-tool/

Does it actually work on PCI bus vehicles (like 02-05 Rams)? My DRBIII took a **** on me and I actually need something just for that specifically.
I haven't been on forums lately. I still haven't changed my transmission yet. I am now sourcing the torque converter to replace the factory converter. At the same time, I will be upgrading to Ram 3500 Trans cooler for increased cooling and longer life.
At the moment, I am dealing with P2096 and evap leak.
good luck make sure you get a torque converter seal (o ring) if it doesn't come with one..they are a pain to get ..
check the torque converter depth. like in the video
