New member. Engine swap question
LOL.....the "communication" is the switch from PCI bus to CAN bus protocols and that happened in 2006. MDS came along for the ride. Regardless, the basic engine is the same with the exception of the MDS lifters and cam and that's only in the 1500 engines. 2500/3500 engines didn't come with MDS or EGR. Default position for MDS is "off" and the engine runs like a normal V8 without anything to activate the solenoids.

Say I have both trucks. What would I need to change over to make it work right. 07 has a good engine bad body. 03 would have bad engine good body also was a 4.7. Also in a place that hooks up for emissions inspection
Yeah that ain't gonna work. The 07 elex won't work in the 03 (CAN & PCI non-compatible) so you'd need the elex from an 03 (switching to an 04-05 gets more complicated) including APPS, PCM, TCM, harness, etc. 4.7 is cable TB, all hemis are fly-by-wire. Might actually be cheaper to find an original 3rd gen hemi truck with a blown engine; then it's drop in, plug and play.
