Crank and cam position sensor
I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 w/ 4.7. Had it throw a camshaft position sensor code. So I replaced both the crank and cam sensor per a video on youtube that said it's best to do both. I drove around the block then just died as I was parking. Now it won't stay running longer than maybe 30 seconds. Does it need to relearn? At the moment I have the battery disconnect to rest the ecm. Thanks for any help you all can offer.

I rec you put the old crank sensor in and see what you get. We see lots of problems with aftermarket sensors. Mopar sensors are twice the price, but that's what I go with since it's usually a one-time replacement.
Thanks jrsick. That's what I ended up doing last night. Found a Mopar one on Rock Auto and went with that since the shipping was way cheaper than the actual Dodge site.
Make sure the battery is fully charged, and the charging system actually works with the engine running.
Okay a new day now. So mechanic is thinking it's a wiring issue because of an old remote start my ol' man had put on. He fried it at some point by leaving the heat on high and hit the start on it and never had the remote start removed or the wiring fixed. So fingers crossed.

Finally after 2 1/2 weeks of this so called repair shop not finding anything wrong with my truck outside of old remote start wires that weren't disconnected. I ordered a better scanner and found that the Bank 1 O2 sensor was reading high levels. For some odd reason it isn't making the check engine light come on at all. Even found some old codes that weren't deleted much less being seen by using the ignition way to read codes. So I'm crossing my fingers that this was the whole issue of it stalling out.

cam/crank sensor - had similar problem w my 04 1500 slt, 4x4, quad cab w 4.7L, acquired from an acquaintance w 154k miles. "All maintenance done at sched times, oil changed every 5k w synthetic, timing chains done at 120k.. etc, etc..." i'm sure you've all heard it before..
So I replaced cam and crank sensors, twice - mopar on 2nd round, now will always be first. Same drivability issues, codes, shut down, limp mode, no start. Replaced PCM w refurbished programed to vin, made 14 new splices in the 4 different PCM harnesses, new ground straps, battery cables, cleaned and dielectric greased all harness grounds and any other connection point I could.. should be good to go - ah, yeah - NO! no start, in fact it even sounds different, cranking is.. light? Definitely not sounding the way it was before... well, time to do lifter/rocker arms anyway, bought all i needed, removed passenger valve cover - and wouldnt you know - glaring at me was the timing chain - off the cam sprocket, sitting on the camshaft end. Huh. Well that 'll do it everytime.. no wonder it sounded different - it was now essentially a 4cyl! So much for having the chains done at 120k... thought he was a friend..
I made the mistake of thinking it was an electrical/sensor/computer problem and didnt bother to check the mechanical side of the cam position sensor code. I didnt see your specs - mileage and maint., bought new/used, and I dont know if any of this will help, but maybe spark an idea for you that hasnt come up yet. And hopefully you wont end up replacing the motor and all the extras needed because you believed they were already done and well maintained like I did.
I would hope the shop would be thorough, but as we know that's not always the case.
Now ill be starting my own thread as im having some other issues that im sure some of the gurus here will have ideas for me to try. Some brilliant minds with plenty of experience here, many times i find answers in other threads of similar issue to mine, which is why I read this one and passing along my very costly experience. I hope you find the solution soon!
Please post more as it develops, good luck!

Had this same issue. After weeks of debugging found that the crank sensor i had replaced was slightly shorter than the new one. I ended up ordering 2 new Mopar crank position sensors until I had one that was right.
