Default Oil under driver side front axle. What broke and how much is it gonna cost?

Noticed some oil today under the driver side front axle of my 2007.5 Ram 3500 6.7L

What broke and how much is it gonna cost?

The mechanic told me several months ago that one of my shocks was leaking. Most of the oil looks like it's coming from the bottom of the shock where it's bolted. I'm wondering if this is that problem. I hope this is just a leaking shock, or is this is a bigger problem. What do you think?

The top of the engine bay is dry, no oil leaks I see from up there.

EDIT: There was no oil on the front diff cover. It was just shiny, but not oily, it was dry. Most of the oil looks like it's coming from the bottom of the shock.

Here I'm on my back looking up at the shock from under the axle. It's very oily where the shock attaches. (yes, I know it's rusty... east coast snow, ice, salt... it's been sprayed with a rust converter but looks like it needs it again). I think 99% this is the leaking shock that my mechanic said was leaking 4 months ago.

No way to tell without getting under there and identifying exactly where it’s coming from

Hard to ID exactly when everything is covered. Wash it down with some engine cleaner and you should be able to tell after that.

Did you check the fluid level in the front diff? And it smell like gear oil or power steering. Could also be fluid leaking from the shock.

Pull the shock out and you’ll instantly be able to tell where the oil is coming from and if the shock is blown
