bought a lemon
2002 dodge Ram SLT 1500 4.7L 2WD auto
slight problem with the transmission
i retract the lemon statement, in cold weather short trips it not doing too bad.
warm temp problems suggest a filter problem.
i got one.at autozone.
have yet to install it.

If that buzz that lasts a second it's normal.... at least for my 545RFE (not sure what you have). I've always heard it and never an issue. The lurch is not normal. How long it lasts is a crap shoot but might want to optimize things with a fluid and filter/s change.
When you get back online, Need more information. Year and engine size. Is the check engine lamp on. If the transmission is an 545RFE, Like Dodgevity had said about the buzzing or ratchet sound is normal. That is the solenoid pack shifting. As far as the lurching, I would check the fluid level and if that is okay, I would have the dealership run a VIP report to see if you have a recalls for the solenoid pack. You may need to have a quick learn done on the transmission as well.
there is some leaking around the pan . hopefully i was too hasty calling it lemon.
will pick up a gasket and filter for it.
i'm parked on a hill, will get to level ground and check the fluid.
and some quarts of ATF.
Dodge uses ATF4?
use a sealant on the gasket or no?

Get one of the good kits, that has the rubber/viton gasket. It's re-usable. Don't use sealer on that one.
Yes, ATF+4. The Supertech brand at Walmart is just as good as any. You may have two filters. Check at operating temp with engine idling, else you get a false high reading. Stick with Mopar for the spin on filter, as it has an anti drain-back valve that the aftermarkets probably won't. For the flat screen filter, be sure the old rubber O-ring on the neck comes out, else you'll double them up and the transmission will suck air, which is a fast-track to damage.

i got the autozone kit , has the rubber pan gasket the flat and can filter a small metal ring
but i seem to missing the larger O-ring i assume its for the flat filter.
edit: it was sealed with the can filter.
