Default blue smoke

so right now i have the lovely "blue smoke" not as heavy but light. as i know blue smoke is valve seals going out. so i have talked to a mechanic and they say that if i changed the seals, it wont run properly and or still have blue smoke. is that true?

Wonder where he got that from...... Fixing a problem should be exactly that, a fix. Not something that brings on other problems.....

That said, if you just get a puff of smoke at cold start, and that's about it, then valve seals *should* solve the problem. If the rings are getting loose though, may still have a problem.

What are you driving? Year? Engine? Etc. How many miles on it? How much oil are you going thru between changes?

All good questions by heyyou.
I'd first check the PCV. See if it rattles when you shake it.
Take a look at the spark plugs. That will tell you which cylinders are burning oil.
I rec next do a leakdown test. You'll know which cylinders are likely having problems based on spark plug condition.

2002 ram 1500 about 245,000 miles. The only time I get blue smoke when it’s warm operating temp.

Did you do a dry test, then a wet test? If so, did the numbers change significantly?
