Default Aftermarket Power Control Module

Truck died while driving (2005 Ram 1500 with 3.7L V6/Automatic) ! I was lucky enough to coast into a AutoZone and they tested battery and it was dead. I bought a new one and as soon as I started it the voltage meter was reading low then dropped all the way off and check gauges light lit up. Ended up getting new alternator and new belt. Still having low voltage issues. I have been told the PCM regulates the voltage from the alternator. Tried a junkyard swap but I could only find a 5.7L V8 PCM (same year) that didn't work.

Called the local dealership and they stopped making them in 2015.

Who had had to buy an aftermarket PCM and had them programmed for their specific vehicle* ???? Can someone point me in the right direction without it being cost prohibitive. TIA

* I was told they are flashed with VIN specific programming.

Take a picture of the tag that is attached to yours, give us that number. Need to find the same part number unit. I picked one up from ebay a while ago and had the dealer program it for me.

Your local parts store should be able to get a rebuilt unit, far cheaper than a new one from the dealer..... (which is also likely factory rebuilt.....)

What's his EBay feedback look like? Can he program the PCM to your VIN?

I only paid $30, but I had to pay the dealer to program it. Seems like a good deal if they program it to your VIN and options, and it functions. When the dealer did mine, they only updated the VIN - mine had 20" wheels so my speedo was showing slower than actual speed. Does this ebay dealer have a return policy if you have problems?

feedback is good, and yes. It says that you supply VIN for programming!

Sounds reasonable to me.

@fj5gtx Any good tire shop should be able to correct your speedometer for you.

I'll keep that in mind... that 1500 is long gone.
