Electric Brakes - Stumped
Took a Tekonsha Prodigy out of an 04 F-150 and installed it in an 05 Ram (with tow package), but have run into a problem...
When I installed it in the Ford a year and a half ago, I had to connect the Ford harness to the Tekonsha harness.. and install a relay for it to work properly.
Today I took it out of the Ford. I forgot to remove the additional relay at first, so when I checked it with the trailer, only the left turn signals on the trailer worked. When I removed the relay, everything was back to normal.
I then hooked it up to the Ram by connecting the two harnesses and plugging everything in. The running lights and brake lights work fine, but when you hit either turn signal, the correct one flashes on the truck, but both flash on the trailer.
Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks!

A little bit of new info, but still need help on this one. I sent a message to Tekonsha and they said that the brake control doesn't affect turn signals at all. I called the dealership and they said to check all the fuses, which are ok.
Anybody have any ideas so I don't have to take it in?

He's right, the brake controller doesn't have anything to do with the lights. It sounds like you do not have a factory wired connector and someone wired either for their particular use or just plain wrong.
You need a tester, and turn on things one by one and find which terminal it goes to (such as lights, left turn, right turn, etc.) make notes and then just connect those to match up with the drawing Mike supplied. Of course this assumes your trailer is wired consistently with that. If you still have trouble, go back to the truck that works, check it the same way, mark down the terminals and just re-wire same as it.
Kinda time consuming but shouldn't be too hard.

Dodge n Ditches,
I ran into a very similar prob just last week. I was bringing a trailer from Phx to Tulsa when I found out that the electric brakes and the 12V for the trailer weren't even hooked up at the connector. Yes, my truck came with the towing pkg, but it was only wired for the 4 pin, not 7. The '03s and '04s came this way from the factory. I had to get the wiring harness from the dealer ($73) and hook it up. The blue wire for the brakes hooks up to the blue wire coming out of the brake controller and the 12V gets hooked up directly to the battery, fused of course. I used the exact link that Mike provided.
I know this doesn't answer your blinker prob, but if you're planning on using the brakes, I just wanted you to know.

Thanks for all the advice. Brakes on trailer do work, just the turn signals haywire.
Alright - ready for the answer...
Took it to the dealer because I could not for the life of me figure it out and here's what they came up with:
This 2005 (with 9k on it) has a connector and harness that are too corroded to work, so they ordered me a new set. Lovely, isn't it?
Along the same lines, I took the 2004 F-150 in last week because the passenger airbag light was on. They discovered that the crash sensor behind the bumper had corroded beyond operation and replaced it. Unfortunately that one's out of warranty with 65k on it.
Thanks again everybody for the advice!
