Never seen a thermostat in two pieces. Why did they replace the temp gauge in the first place.

PS: Best way to bleed is by jacking up the front sky high.

How much is a thermostat, $10? The way I've dealt with "tested and vehicle not presenting issue" type of responses, is tell them you want to demonstrate it to the technician. I would say I've got a 90% success rate if I'm able to show the technician the issue first hand. You can give that a whirl on your next problem, since you have this one licked.

Techs want to find and fix problems, service advisors aren't as motivated nor tech savvy. I don't know how many times I tell an advisor something very specific to fast track the technician's investigation, and they write down something pretty valueless for the tech to go on.

My last visit to a dealership was many many years ago when I took my Honda in for the Takata airbag inflator recall. SA was pushing me to have other work done and informed me that I needed front + rear rotors and pads. Problem was, I had just done the brakes and the car had drums in the rear. Talked to him for 1 minute and realized he didn't know squat about car repair. LOL

The Dakota has never seen a dealership, or any mechanic, for that matter.

Dodgevity, they didn't replace the temp gauge, they replaced the water pump & radiator. I replaced the thermostat. $72 for an OEM one so they can't use me installing an aftermarket one as an excuse to deny coverage on something else somewhere down the line. As far as my ask for a refund? So far, no response. Nada.

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issue.

I got it resolved as far as replacement of the thermostat fixed the problem. As far as any response from the dealership to my request for a refund for the thermostat, no.

OK, update....The dealership gave me a refund for the thermostat. $72.85. And no more problems. The new thermostat took care of it.
