2004 Dodge Ram 1500 3.7 l won't start
My 2004 Dodge quit running, I had bought new Spark plugs and Coil packs, installed them,, the next day started getting the c006 code for misfire on Number 6, put in one of the old coil packs , next day got codes for #6 and # 4 misfire. Bought new plugs and coil packs again, ran good for 2 days ( I put in fuel injectors cleaner while this was going on ) 3rd day again misfire on the same 2 cyl.. plus started getting code that was not connecting to dash ( dash would run normal then all of a sudden shut down, then come back) Turned off motor, went to start again, now it won't start at all, Have fuel pressure ( Replaced injectors ) , Have Spark, just won't run, could the Timing jumped time or one gear Broke ? Or any other suggestions, it's a good truck, I'd hate to see it go get crushed at some junk yard
They are black and sooty looking when I take them out, I'm leaning towards it being a Timing problem, when this first started there was a loud knocking sound from the front of the motor, that has now gone away, but it is acting the way another car I has 25-30 years ago that threw a timing chain. Could that possibly be the culprit ?
I haven't seen a failed timing chain in more years than I really care to think about...... Even on 200,000 plus mile motors. Stretched out? Oh yeah, but, broken? Or even slipped enough that the motor wouldn't run? Nope. Not for several decades. If you had a distributor, it would be easy to check..... but, without one, not sure how.... Are there any marks on the dampener? Might try setting the crank to what should be TDC for number one, and see what the valves are doing.....

still won't start, got 129 compression, have spark, have fuel Pressure, . Motor turns over fine, even tried starting fluid , no go. I'm at my wits end with this. Does not show any codes on a OBDll meter. I'm going to have to buy a regular scanner ( around $ 300.00 to $400.00 , which is what it would cost to tow it and have it tested ) If not timing chain either BCM or ECM replacement may be required. Or may just put it up for sale as it, and get nothing really for a truck with a great body, no rust and single cab
