Default 2002 ram automatiic with 4WD in limp mode

I am looking at this 2002 truck for sale, owner says the transmission was replaced with a used one. he states that it runs good but tranny is in limp mode and just needs a TCU. does this sound logical to any of you seasoned Ram owers? is it possible that it just needs a reset on the TCU?

What he is really saying; "truck is in limp mode and I don't know why, probably the computer."
Sometimes limp mode is a computer issue, sometimes the fix is much simpler. I've seen truck go to limp mode because of bare wires in the transmission harness. I've heard of bad ignition coils causing limp mode.

I have no technical information, but for me, it is always a matter of "why doesn't the seller fix the problem real quick for a low price and sell the truck in good working order for a much higher price"?

Still not enough info.... could be a 4.7, could be a 5.2. They used different transmissions, and control methods.

pretty sure it's the 4.7 but no telling about the transmission. it's a used one out of who knows what year or model Ram.
