Default Need to disable skim

I am putting a 2008 6.7 Cummins into a 2008 f250. It’s a truck I’ve had and I wanted to put a Cummins motor in it. The 6.7 engines have SKIM and obviously being a ford I don’t have a dodge ignition. I was told I need to disable skim for the engine start so I can drive the truck. I have an EFI Live tuner coming and was hoping I could disable it in there, but EFI Live told me it isn’t possible to disable. Anyone know if that’s true?

That was my understanding. You would need to find a PCM that never had skim enabled... as once it is enabled, you can't turn it back off.....

By 2008 it wasn't even SKIM anymore, it was SKREEM lol (integrated security AND wireless module) and it also wasn't even an option by then, it was standard. You may not be able to find one unless you talk to the companies that reman PCM's to see if it's possible after a total reset.

Perhaps you could search the 'you-pick-n-pull' yards and find either a vehicle that doesn't have the transponder key and take the PCM from it OR if you find a Cummins with the transponder key, take all the stuff and then zip tie the coded key right to the receiver antenna and stuff it all up under the dash.

When you get it all working and playing nice together (the heart of a diesel RAM, transplanted into a FORD model A) we would love to read (and see) how it all came together and and advice you have to offer the next guy who tries this madness...
Cheers!

i contacted the company that makes the swap kit for this project. They said HP tuners and EFI live are able to disable SKIM/SKREEM. I have both so I will report back if that worked.

i will gladly document everything once I’ve finished. I’ve written down the stuff I had to do and what makes sense to do that I didn’t do.

OK great, I didn't realize you had a 'Kit' and support from a company...

there’s a company called Diesel conversion specialist that makes swap kits for these trucks. But they have minimal documentation for the 6.7 swap specifically, only the 5.9 family (12V, 24V, CR)
