03 dodge 1500 4.7 stalls until it’s warm
So I’m not 100 percent on where to post this so I hope someone sees but
my truck will start up fine then slowly idle down and die then when I fire it back up sometimes it starts right up and other times it just sits there and cranks.
Now I can hold the rpm up at 1000 maybe a bit more and it will still stall every once and awhile.
then when I go to put it in gear and take off it dies again
once it finally chooses to not die while I’m coasting down the road it does this weird like studder. Kind of feels as if my tires are slipping and grabbing if that makes sense. But if I pin it to the floor and she jumps up it goes away or if I let off the gas it doesn’t, only while I’m keeping a steady pace
now about a week ago I got a misfire in 4 and I check my plug it looked great and was getting spark, then I took off the idle control valve and cleaned it (a little bit of caked oil was on there idk what that means) but I’m still having the issues and I have no clue what to do
idk if this is 1 problem or multiple but I would love some help
also i don’t know if it’s part of the problem or just my truck but while sitting at idle after it’s warmed up it shakes pretty good then it just is smooth for a few seconds and then like jumps back into the vibration

Scanning for codes would be a good start, if you have a mean enough scanner, checking for pending codes wouldn't hurt either. Most of the big chain auto parts store will read codes for free.
Besides evap cat and o2
but those have all been on there for years
I can go to a parts store and have them read it if you think that might find something different
Evap could be a vacuum leak.... but, I expect that would have it idling higher..... Or, it could be the valve is not opening when commanded..... but, the PCM leans out the mixture anyway... and it stalls.... Not sure if just disabling the system and plugging it off would tell ya anything or not.
O2 shouldn't be an issue UNTIL it gets warm.....
Unless you are experience low fuel pressure? The PCM can compensate for that to an extent.....
Was it whining about cat efficiency? That may be a melting down cat, but, then I would expect you would be down on power.... Or, if the O2 code was for the REAR O2, that may explain it as well.
Will your scanner read live data?? See what it thinks engine temp is, when the engine is stone cold.

Ok so got up this morning to start the truck and it would fire up and kick right back off
the coolant temp was reading 43° also
I got it fired up by hitting the gas as soon as it would turn over

Run some seafoam in the gas tank and via the brake booster vacuum. Clean the throttle body + replace the TPS and IAC valve. Use only Mopar sensors. Pull off neg battery terminal and leave off overnight to reset. How many miles on the plugs?

So I did run some cleaner through it the other day hot sea foam bc when I was looking up the best one everyone I saw said it wasn’t very good at cleaning. But I have used it before
this truck sat for about 2 years and I started working on it and driving it since beginning of October the spark plugs are fairly new I’m sure only a few thousand miles the coils on the other hand are probably pretty old.
It’s been running fine until a couple weeks ago when the chugging/stutter it would do while going up a hil.
i just figured it was my rear end going bad again but it started doing it on flat roads while I was keeping a steady RPM the rear end is just fine tho.
then a few days ago it started doing this stalling stuff
I’ve read some about the plenum gasket and I’m not 100 percent how to tell if mine is causing this problem or how to tell if it’s even bad

but anytime I give it gas it gets up and goes and sound and feels find. I’ve gotten to the point where I almost constantly have it at 2500-3000 when going up a hill just so it doesn’t skip
Ok so a new thing that may help I started up the truck after work today and it bogged down at idle and was wanting to die as normal but the dome lights dimmed and brightened with the rpm. Could all this stem from an alternator problem even tho my battery has never died and I ran the test on my reader it was good. Just figured the more info for someone the better
ok well Jk I think I know the problem. Was headed home from church tonight and the truck just killed on me and would not start. So I decided to unplug the coil I thought was bad and it started right up. So tomorrow I’ll replace it and see if that fixes it
