Default Hemi 4/8 ??

I just heard from a friend that bought one that Dodge now has its Hemi V8 cutting itself back to a Hemi 4
when all power is not needed.

My friend has not has his 06 long enough to tell how its been working..

Anyone got one and how do you like it? See a mileage gain?

I know GM tried this years ago and it was a complete failure BUT that was before computer
control was developed.

Thanks...

It is great in concept, but just not very practical for our trucks unless you are doing a bunch of 45-65 mph traveling on relatively flat ground. It just takes to much to push around a heavy truck.

On the other hand, I'm sure there will be a bigger difference on the Hemi powered JGC and cars.

Working Great so far, Specialy to 20+ MPG. Just make sure you run the correct oil are will through a Check Engine Light. All the 5.7 in Cars have had it since production started.

I'm getting a respectable average of 15.7 right now. That is only 1 mpg better than my 05 was getting. Both trucks were set up the same as far as both 4X4, QC, 3.92 gears. Truck only has about 1400 miles on it right now though.

I just bought a brand new 1500 QC, the dealership told me that the Dodge Chargers are the only models they have that shut 4 cyclinders at cruise control. I don't think pick ups can do this, it's just too much weight.

The 2006 1500 Rams do have the MDS Hemi, whether or not it works is a different story, but they do have MDS.

I picked up my 06 QC 4x4 5.7 MDS Hemi on the 9th and averaged 16.6 mpg so far.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the MPG. The window sticker said 13 to 18 which I figured was a stretch.

My 02 F150 never did better than 16 to 17 at best, avaraged 15. so I'm hoping my Ram will do better.

We'll see
