I was wondering when if at all you all changed from the factory oil too like a mobil 1 I have about 500miles on my 06 and I was thinking of after the first oil service to change it to mobil 1 what did you all do????

 

Change it like you normally would. No special requirements. Make sure you change it at the proper intervals, and use high quality filters and your truck will be around for a long time.

 

My realy question was is it ok to switch to Mobil 1 after the 1st oil service

 

At 3K (first change) I put it in.

 

I went to Mobil 1 full synthetic for my first oil change at 3K.

 

I changed my oil at 1500 and every 3K after the 3K change. I will switch to synthetic and run for 5K miles as soon as I get to 15K miles (keep sthe math simpler). Just passed 12K. I've been using Castrol Syntec blend since new as it is only a few cents more than the regular GTX at WW.

 

I changed my oil after the first 3,000 miles. And every 3,000 from then on.

 

I change the oil every 3k miles with Penzoil Synthetic,have since it was new,I changed the factory oil at 500 miles

 

you really shouldnt switch over to full synthetic oil until 3k or more appropriately...5k miles.

I had the dealer do the 1st two oil changes (at 1k and then again at 4k) @ 7k I went with Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30.

Next weekend (at 18,500 miles) I will be switching to the new Mobil 1 Extended Performance (which is good for up to 15k miles) and then I will changing the oil every 10k!!

 

It doesn't matter when you change over to synthetic, I changed to Mobil 1 Full Synthetic with a K&N Filter at 2300 miles and change it every 5k miles.
