Default disassembling ash tray

I was using my ash tray for change and my badge for work. Well, it got full and some change slid behind the actual tray and now I can't get it closed all the time. I can get the front cover off the unit and pull out the insert but I can't seem to get the whole thing taken apart. Has anyone ever had to do this and could you help me out? Thanks in advance.

Putting one in is a heck of alot easier than taking one out! I installed one a few months ago, that was cake. Not sure how to get one out though. I can let you know later in the evening when I can get home to look at tho...

This picture should help. Also, if you go to http://hemitruckclub.com/, on the left of the page you can download the service manual for your truck. They have 2003-2006, but the 2003 book still works for the 2002, though.

Here. I assume you'd like to re-install it too.

Thanks Blawson! I applied a little force like that before, but I didn't want to break anything. I'll give it another go.

well damn, this sure helped me keep from smashing stuff in anger because of my ashtray not closing properly...

I saw no change so I couldn't figure out why it wasn't latching...took out the ashtray and found about 7 or 8 coins way down there

workin' great now

Someone may have pics of this, the problem is that this thread started in Jan of '06. So other than Chet I don't think any of the other guys are really on here anymore. You may want to start your own thread and ask if you can't find anymore with the search function. Good luck!!!
