Yeah but you could easily build the 5.9L to make some CRAZY power. So this would have to be STOCK to STOCK... because if mods where allowed the 5.9L with the right mods would walk over the 5.7L with ease.
Yeahh I know... but the 5.9L did not come out of the factory with the same technology as the 5.7L... so the 5.7L is basicaly already modded from the factory.... while the 5.9L is not.
You are right about the technological differences. The Hemi is an awesome engine. However, I think we are talking about different mods. If a modded 5.9 was going to walk over a Hemi, it would need more than headers, exhaust, and a chip. We'd have to be talking about a SC.
Coming from someone who has had both a '98 RCSB 5.9L 4x4 w/3 inch body lift & 35s and a '04 QCSB Hemi 4x4 w/4 inch suspension lift & 35s, the Hemi has gobs more top end HP, not even close. However the 5.9 I firmly believe has more low end torque. Fuel economy easily goes to the Hemi, as I struggled to get into the double digit mpg's with the 5.9 once I added 35" tires. The Hemi regularly gives me upper 13's to low 14's with the same type of driving. This low end torque issue I have with the Hemi will soon be rectified when I put in a KRC 210 cam.
And I gotta agree with Air Ram, living about 2 miles from KRC Performance, I've seen some stroked 5.9's that would eat even heavily modded Hemi's for breakfast!!!
