One item I haven't seen mentioned much and something to make sure you think about while you are de-badging, make sure you cut all the way through the DS sticky tape. Don't cut "most" of the way through and lift or bend the badging to the side. The edges of the plastic badges will contact your painted surfaces with a "sharp" edge. Use the line or floss and cut all the way through.

Why debadge?! For one its way easier to wax those areas when the badges are gone. Second, eventually they are gonna fade, crack, or have the lamination peel off. Lastly, It just looks cooler!. Setting the vehicle in the sun for a while definitely helps reduce the pain of debadging. I also used a heat gun (in moderation) to help remove the tape. I have not tried to use dental floss (maybe next time), but I did use the 3M wax and tar remover. And I must say that I'm happy with the results. It's definitley time consuming no matter what method you use, but I think its worth the effort in the end. After removing that huge Ram's head on the tailgate, my fingers were starting to bleed from trying to remove the tape. In my case, the badge completely separated from the tape. I couldn't have done that if I had tried, but there I was having to remove every inch of tape.
Just take your time when debadging. Never use a screwdriver or something sharp. It seems that there are a few chemicals out there that remove the glue well. Last word of advice, once you start, make sure you finish, nothing looks worse than a vehicle that is half debadged, hahaha.

Started debadging today. What a pain in the ***! I started with the SLT on the tailgate to ease into it then worked my way to the doors. It took me a half day for the tailgate and passenger door. I got tired so I will finish the drivers door tomorrow. The goo gone really didnt work too well for me but the WD40 and 3M adhesive remover work great. The dental floss kept breaking so I busted out the tackle box and started using 8lb fishing line. No problems with that. But the truck looks so much better now. (at least the right side for now). Will post pics when all finished and waxed.

I think you are doing something wrong. I did mine in under an hour.

What is taking the most time for me is removing the leftover tape on the door after the badges are removed. How did you do yours in under an hour without an eraser wheel? Might help me finish a little quicker today...

ORIGINAL: 94rt10ohio

Dental floss or fishing line with some WD40 and polishing compound for clean up.

Very nice! Looks like it was well worth the effort
Cheers

Ah! Sore fingers, the things we do to make our vehicle different. (hahaha) Glad your happy with the results. The truck looks awesome, and black is no easy color to maintain. Job well done!

When I had my roll pan installed I asked the guys to keep the decal off. I like the clean shaved look (like my women).
