Attempting to debadge..... Pix Now!
I tried all the tricks listed... Dental floss, fishing line, goo gone, hair dryer... None of it worked for me... I just took a flathead screwdriver, covered the tip in black electrical tape... slipped the tip of the screwdriver behind the badges, and popped them off... didn't scratch my paint or anything.

I had previously removed all badges from my truck, except for the black door guards, so I finally got around to removing those this weekend.
Ths time, I sprayed the top and bottom of the door guards with Goo Gone, let it soak for about two minutes, sprayed the tops and bottoms again, and then used the dental floss. About 3 inches into each guard, the dental floss would snap, but by then I could just grab hold of the guard, and slowly pull it away (being careful not to let the other end cratch the paint). When I would pull the guards off, they took the soaked adhesive tape with them, making it a snap to clean up. Took about 20 minutes to do all four guards since I have a Quad Cab.
Only problem is that I had my driver-side door repainted (after being vandalized right after I bought it), and the repair shop didn't clear coat under the adhesive tape of that guard when they replaced it, so I am taking it back for them to fix. Glad I caught that when I did before the warranty runs out and becomes my problem. Something to be aware of when you get a paint repair on a body panel.

Yeah, I'm thinking about taking off my guards too... Because they don't bloody friggin' work anyways. I had 1 dent in my passenger door the day I Bought it... and I just noticed another one now on the drivers door, must have happened a few days ago... **** me off... People in parking lots need to be more careful and respectful. Do us a favor and post pictures now that your guards are off, it would be nice to see how it looks.

I have one tiny dent in my driver-side door, from a new Mustang. My friend rented it for his wedding, and the door was opened on my truck. If the guards can't stop something sitting that low, they are pretty much useless.
About my repaired door... I spoke to the body shop today at lunch and they claim that I needed to tell them to remove the guard before they repainted and clear coated because it is considered a one-time accessory (meaning that if they removed it, they would have to buy a new one to replace it because of the adhesive). So they basically taped it up and painted around it, and now I'm stuck with a tiny line circling where that guard was on my driver door. Guess I'll look into what I can do about covering that up without having it repainted... again.
I'll post some pics here soon. Need to dig out the digital cam. I have a 2005 Quad Cab, 4x4, Deep Molten Red.
