I made something similar to the jet stream intake they sell on ebay. A piece of angled steel, some plexiglass, and self tapping screws. Bolt it to the beam next to the headlight and it will deflect cool air of the headlight housing into the intake of the stock box. Add a K&N and a airaid MIT and you have my setup.

You keep thinking what you want, but you're wrong. I *garauntee* if you put that truck on a dyno after your little mod, you will have lost performance. You drive a honda civic with the same mod? Enough said.
I wasn't trying to sound like an *******, but then you got cocky... I'm sure you're real disappointed that you spent hours thinking up this cool modification for your vehicle, just to have someone tell you that it was pointless.
And air will not be FORCED anywhere... That opening is like 3-4" big, and when you're cruising on the highway the air will be deflected over the hole due to the shape of the bumper... The air enters the vehicle because of the vacuum that is created when the throttle body opens... It sucks the air in from the vent, nothing is forced. You really have no idea what you're talking about, so you should quit while you're ahead.
You're kidding yourself if you think that having all those ridges inside your tube doesn't hurt.
You know what? I'm not even going to bother with this post anymore, because I think you're too self-indignant to listen to anything I have to say.

I have read some of your older posts and you get all bent if someone says something against you, or disagrees with you. But then you go and trash on this guy???
He did something that he thought was a good idea, and he is proud of his work and wants to share it with others, and you come and trash him. I don't like your headlights without the yellow inserts, but hey you like it, and are proud of your work, and I'm not gonna trash it. Not cool man, we are all on the same side here. I'm sure other people on here would agree with me.

I think that mod is rediculous, and will only HURT performance, not only that but it looks cheap and ugly too.

actually his idea is a good one... the only thing i'd change (may have been mentioned) is the fitting over the vent. it should be covered by the tube so that all of the air collected gets redirectd into the air box. The whole point of doing it is to move fresh air into the air box, which it does. It doesnt matter if it is turbulent or not, that's not where it matters most. after the filter is where you want smooth air flow. Also, as we all know, the colder the intake air charge, the more power you'll make.. the one benifit with his setup is when he's at a stop light and the area where the stock air box gets it's fresh air from starts to get heat soaked from the engine comp. heat, his off the line intake air temps will be lower, improving off the line performance.
want to take it a step further? wrap your fuel rail with insulating tape. a heat soaked fuel rail will raise your fuel temps slightly causing the fuel to expand... wraping it will prevent this and increase your off the line performance.
bottom line... if you have ideas and want to act on them, do it. that's how you learn.

Thanks guys. Sorry to bring this up again but I just read it. To you rob I say this.. there is air that is being forced into the tube, you know why because there is a hole in front of it that allows this air to enter the tube. I agreeded to many of your points, we were just talking about the same thing in different ways.
O and 94rt10ohio I love your ram air set up, I didn't know that was avalaible. Rob I know that if you put my truck on a dyno that I wouldn't gain hp, but I wouldn't say that I would loose any. Actually, you might gain power on a dyno (1-2hp) if you stuck a giant fan in front of the ram air opening. In addition I said that I also drive a V6 Honda Accord which will soon be supercharged thanks to Comptech. How do you come up with Honda Civic when I clearly wrote Accord? Plus you should try not to be biased towards certain makes of cars, to each his own. I'm sure there is something good in most cars. I don't care what car or truck you drive as long as it looks clean.
Rob you know what though, it's okay. Act how you want you have the free right. I did read your opinions and they were noted, I don't believe that you understood what I was saying in some of my post, though.

I dont know where you live, but when it rains where i live, the water levels get really high. That "Ram Air" would just act like a huge straw and you would end up kicking yourself when you end up having to replace the motor cuz u flooded it out. I wouldnt do it, but thats just me, i posted earlier and i would have done what i said before instead.

you can get a smooth race car type hose that is insulated silicone coated from a company i used to work for. Its not cheap but it is what the professionals use. i am working on this now with a spare air box. i will post when done
