Big Horn Edition??
Hi there!
Newbie here!
I just bought a '06 Dodge Ram "Big Horn Edition". Does ANYONE know what that is? I know about the ensignia, 20" wheels, etc. etc. But why the name "Big Horn Edition"? I know all about the Daytona edition (which is sweet, by the way) and I know a bit about the Rumble Bee edition.
I have searched the internet until my eyes have bled and I have found nothing, except that the edition started in Texas. Is that the only big deal? There has to be a reason for this edition. Or maybe there isn't a reason.
Honestly, it doesn't matter to me, as I love my big ol' truck. But, I am curious. I would have bought the truck whether it said "Big Horn" on it or not. Though, I would have thought that with the "Big Horn" name, the horn would be a bit tougher. Maybe Dodge should rename it to "Little Big Horn"? Thought? But, if I were in a car and had the big ol' Dodge Ram front end staring at me in the rear view mirror, it wouldn't be the horn asking me to move!
Any insight out there in Ram Land?
Thanks in advance!
(If the answer to my question is located in the forum somewhere, please let me know. I haven't read them all yet!)

I have a 2005 Big Horn....I'm pretty sure it is just the SLT option "customer preffered package 2G". I might be wrong on this, but I'm almost positive. Its an SLT truck with a badge.
Its the package that is mentioned above but the big horn is added like how they had the california edition and it was pretty much the same but color matched. Big horn roots are in Texas "where everything is bigger".
In Texas, the "Big Horn" edition doesnt exist. It's called the Lonestar Edition. Down here (I live in Houston) we have the Lonestar Ram and the Texas Titan so they compete. The Texas Titan must have a differant name outside of Texas but as far as i can figure, thats where it came from.
I have a 2005 Big Horn I think. The sticker on the window when I bought the truck said "Big Horn Edition", but it doesn't say it on the side of my truck like I've seen on others. Not that it matters, but does anyone know why??
Hmmm...it seems to be a puzzle. I found one article that was talking about the Daytona edition and it mentioned that the "Big Horn" edition started in Texas. It may have been under a difernt name as someone suggested.
What is odd, is that on the sticker it gave a $1200 discount for the Big Horn edition. But, it had the Big Horn package. That baffled me. But, I don't care, as it is what I have wanted, and then some.
Thanks for your help!

Mystro,
I know what the options are, as I wouldn't have bought it without knowing. My question is why the name "Big Horn" edition? What is the "meaning"? Where did the name derive from? Dealerships didn't know either.
Vehicles that are given some type of "edition" (Eddie Bauer, Daytona, etc, etc.) have what I would call a "reason" or "meaning" for the name. Eddie Bauer edition...after Eddie Bauer stores, etc.
I think I better just give up and just enjoy my Big Horn!

clmhemi,
My truck has the Big Horn ensignia both front doors under RAM 1500. I have already had a number of questions (and compliments)about it in parking lots. My answer to them is that I have NO idea what it means, and that to me it means Bad *** edition. Dodge just couldn't put "Bad ***" on the truck, so they came up with something a bit more "clever" and controlled. HA HA!
Oh well...the mystery continues.
