Another exhaust question
I'm about to have duals on my '05 Ram QC. My question is do I go for "true" dual exhaust or simple cat-back system (single in, double out). Shopping around there seems to be only about a 20-30% increase for the "true" dual system (with seris 40 Flowmaster).
Going from your history which is better and worht the money.

RE: Another exhaust question
...i hope you like loud cuz the 40's are very loud in the cab...you shud consider the 50 series, almost as loud but not as much in cab sound...too me its borderline loud, i can only imagine what the 40's sound like...if you want, check out these clips... mine is the 50 deltaflow, the other is a 40...

..also, it depends on the mods you have...if yur really modded up than true duals maybe the way to go...but, if yur modded like me (see sig)...then single in dual out is the way...true duals doesn't have the sam scavenging effect as a single and you will lose low end torque... my preference is low end for quick starts and towing...I don't spend enough time at 100+ mph to appreciate true duals..

RE: Another exhaust question
i have an 06 ram. i was going to do the exhaust like i have it on my 94 mustang. true dual with a balance pipe (h or x-pipe). i believe this will free up some power over the single kits, and make the hemi sound completely different from wut is out there already. just make sure if you end up doing true dual that it is 2.5 inch mandrel bent. if you cant afford to to a custom mandrel bent system, then go with a cat-back. i'd check out magna flow if i were you.

which brings up another good question...
Go for Magnaflow vs Flowmaster. Anybody got history with either they want to share?

RE: Another exhaust question
It depends on which engine you have. I have an 04 Ram QC with single in dual out super 40 series and i got it dumped behind the axle. I was going to get true duals but what made me change my mind was the price difference (550 for true duals, 320 for single in dual out, and 215 for single in dual out turndowns which I got) and the fact that true duals are better on higher horsepower engines where youre pushing around 400+ HP and need it in order to breathe better. If you have the 4.7L like me then I would go with the single in dual out on account of there could be too much airflow(your truck would breathe "too good") and you could lose backpressure which would make it feel slightly sluggish and slow. If you have a Hemi and plan on tweaking your engine up to around 400 horses then go with the true duals. You can also tweak the sound to get closer to what you want by putting different tips on it, having them come out in front of the rear tires (like the guy in the video that chefred112 posted) or having them turned down like I got. My dad has an 03 Ram QC with the same exhaust and his comes straight out the back with some 4 inch magnaflow tips on it and his sounds louder outside than mine but inside mine is louder but not annoyingly loud and mine has a deeper more aggressive rumble to it. I guess it all comes down to personal preference. Hope this helps.
