Just wondering if anyone has installed cam's on their hemi ram. Thinking of going with the 218cam from krcperformance along with headers of course. The setup will get me around 300-320HP. Just wondering kind of tuning you guys had to do to get it running right and making the most power. My goal is to hit the 13's in the 1/4mile thinking that this head/cam combo and 4.10gears will get me there all for less then 2k. And maybe add alittle 50shot of nitrous to maybe hit the high 12's. Sorry that I can't help. I have seen one or two people posting here that have the MOPAR 6.1 HEMI cams in their 5.7 HEMI. I assume that when you say 300-320 hp you mean at the rear wheels. HEMI's already make 345 hp at the fly wheel.

 

Yeah when I sayed 300-320HP thats dynoed or REAL HP nuumbers. And how much HP do 6.1L cam's give?

 

The 218 from KRC should be ok with our pcm but anything bigger were require a flash or piggyback.

 

Are you sure I won't need any pcm or dyno work done? And do you think I can hit the 13's with headers/cam's and 4.10gears?

 

I depends on what your truck is RCSB 4x2, RCLB, QC 4X4 etc. weight matters. Also, some have hit 13's with just a Superchips(SC), cut-out and cold air intake(CAI). Others with LT headers, SC and cam while others with 150 shot only got 14's. Every truck is different and it depends on what your truck is runing right now. If you are currently runing 15's and spray you will not reach 13's but if your are runing 14's and add some mods then maybe.

I know a few who have the 218 or 6.1 with no problems. Abything more aggresive and they need a piggyback.

 

My truck is a 03 reg cab short bed Hemi SLT with 33k miles. Have managed a 15.01 at 89.97mph in the 1/4mile. Right now my truck is 100% stock. And if I used a 150shot of nitrous I'd probably hit low 13's maybe high 12's but thats too much on a stock motor.

 

There are guys runing a two stage 100 then 150 with no problems. Then there are some runing a 75 shot and blowing up their plastic intake.

Dropping two seconds with just heads and cam will not be easy. What heads are you planning on using, p&p 5.7 heads? 6.1 heads?

What about a CAI and cut-out too to help that Hemi breath and exhale.
