try checking your fuses, and it may be your wiring harness

What aftermarket items have been installed? Trailer tow circuits are separate from truck's brake and tail lamps. Someone has to have gone mucking with the wiring to make that happen. Is it only in the back or does the front do it as well? If everything is stock, then look at the silver module mounted to the fuse block. That module is programmable based on installed equipment, so your dealer or someone in the know will have to set it up for your vehicle configuration if that is what is found wrong.

Ha, this exact same symptom happened with my '03 Quad Cab also. I was on the brink of taking it in to a dealer when it just stopped doing it.

One thing I noticed was that if the tilt wheel were unlocked, raised to its highest position, then lowered again the problem went away. Seems like some sort of wiring fault in the steering column to me. But then again, I haven't had the problem again in a couple months.

It just started happening the last few weeks, i put aftermarket taillights on last sept. and the wiring harness (for trailer) is factory. It wont do it all the the but it's becoming alot more frequent. I suppose i could be like most of the other in my town and just stop using the turn signals all together, but then again, why?

My turn signals failed in my '04....rust in the wiring harness supposedly. I would put the left turn signal on and my hazards would flash. Intermittently, OF COURSE. Right signal was fine. Replaced under warranty. Took them 2 days to figure it out.

Mine did the same thing. There is a circuit board mounted to the back of the tail light. It will have to be replaced. I had it repaired under warranty.
