After reading this thread I have just one question for you, is this the first time you have driven a truck with Power Rack-and-Pinion Steering as it handles a lot different than a truck with out it.

The steering is fine. As a matter of fact the whole rest of the truck is fine. The front shocks simply are too soft. I have the 20 inch wheel and tires, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Hey guys, Just bought a 06 1500 QC and also feel like i'm driving an old 80's Cadillac at highway speeds. She bounces and floats down the highway. My dealer said that dodge had a problem with a certain run of shocks. Told me they were gonna get more info on the problem. Any one else?

you might wanna take that thing to the dealer perhaps some of the shocks are toasted. I drive my old mans ram and it's an 06 no such sensations although I agree if you are having em it's definately a problem

and they "Road Force" balanced the tire/wheel. I googled it because I had never heard the term. It seems Hunter has a new machine that balnces and trues the wheel/tire under load.
this form of balancing is far from new... its been around for a very long time but for some reason, probly speed and ease of servicing it has become a forgotten or lost art. Its usually far more effective since it not only balances the tires on the vehicle, it also can also balance out brake rotors and other rotational inbalances that occur that Discount and the like cant and dont do. It also able to balance the tires(and all) at varying speeds instead of the normal 55 or whatever the regualr computer spin balance machines do it it. Which is why my tires never feel balanced even after having them just balanced since rarely do I go exactly 55 anywhere.

The older road-force machines used to look like an over-sizedlawnmower thing with 2 wide rollers on top of it, they used to shove it under your tire(after jacking it up) and flip on the motor and the thing would spin up your tire... always looked very dangerous. After all, would do you think would happen if the motor froze up suddenly in the thing and all of a sudden that rotating mass going 50+ stopped? Something is going to be flying for sure.

I agree that the stock suspension prettysloppy, I definitley notice it when the freeway has some dips or bumps in itand whenI'm out in the washes at Glamis going only 15mph the front end bottoms out super easy then bounces back in the air like a pogo stick. Then I rode in my buddy's stock 07 chevy silverado 4x4 and we were going 30+mph on the same road with no problems at all. So hopefully somebody will come out with some better shocks soon.

i asked about this same concern 3 times at the dealer,
but they would not check it out. i ended up buying
the rancho 9000x(no lift) and had the dealer install them.
much better. and guess what?
they gave me my old shocks+struts back ,and one of
the fronts was blown.

seems they will only replace the factory dampers if they
are spuing fluid.

06 Ram 4 X 4 QC, Front Struts leaking all over the place. Couldn't figure out why the front end was so spongy and hitting hard on dips(duh)...50,000 miles.....The dealer missed it twice on inspection, so I took it to a front end specialist and he just started laughing and told me to go ask for my money back from the dealer. All OE struts are on back order so we had to go with MONROE. Not real happy about that, but they come with a life time warranty. Wanted the KYB's, but they still don't have them out yet. Also having them add a 2.5 inch lift since the struts are out anyway.....
