Chip vs intake
I just got a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Daytona edition, and I was wondering which upgrade is the best bang for your buck? I plan on eventually getting a supercharger, but right now my budget is limited.
Thanks,
Jared

programmer if you are going to use 91 or 93 octane gase - CAI if you are going to use 87 octane
thats just my thought - i had a rep from superchips tell me that unless you use the higher octane gas you will not get HP gains; ill provide the email if needed

there are 3 settings on the flashpaq:87 octane economy,91 octane towing and 91 octane performance. The 87 octane economy will make your truck run smoother and shift better and improves your gas mileage, The 91 octane towing will increase your torque for towing, and the 91 octane performance gives you the high horse power and performance. Also you can adjust your shift settings and alot of other little things too and its easy to use and tune your truck to what you want to use it for. So basically you can have it set to the 87 for now cause of the rediculouse prices of gas and then switch the settings whenever you feel an itch to give you more power and use the 91. Im getting my exhaust put on this weekend and then shortly after I'll be getting a chip and then the CAI.
If your using 91 now - i'd definately get the programmer before the CAI. The CAI will probably give you a better sound, but the chip will give you more performance
If you get the programmer, let me know how you like it, im up in the air about it now.
Thanks,
Boyd

I'd go with the chip. But some chip and programmers are for those guys who have already done intake and exhaust. The chip just helps maximize what the intake and exhaust are doing already. Chip will definetly get you more HP than intake. And if your planning on a SC in the future, why waste money on an intake you'll have to replace or modify for the SC.
Just my 2 cents!
