Default ride quality with 17" wheels

I am thinking about replacing my 20" wheels with 17"; however, i am afraid that i might start getting a roll in the tires due to the extra sidewall height. Should i be afraid of this happening or not? I really like the handling i get with my 20" and don't want to sacrifice it going with 17". The 17 will give me a better ride i know but will the truck want to roll around on me side to side like older models used to? Has anyone experienced this after swapping the 20's with 17's?

Will plan on putting pro comp 17X9 wheels with a 295/70 r 17 Nitto Terra Grapplers.

you will actually get a better ride with the 17" rims because there is more sidewall for cusion, and with those size and type of tires you shouldnt be in the situation where u are taking turns where u have to worry about tire role. However with those tires you will get more road noise.

I went from the 20" wheels to 17" Pro Comp wheels with 33" Pro Comp All Terrain tires. I also did a 3" body lift. Though I only got to drive it a short while before my accident, I noticed nothing negative in the ride quality. I think it may have gotten BETTER, actually. Don't be afraid to do it. I don't think you'll regret it.

I don't have any problems with my stock 17's, but it could effect your gas mileage. probably less mpg then with 20's

actually i think it would be more mpg because the 20s are heavier. just a guess but it makes sense to me.

It all depends on how you drive. I love the handling with the stock 17's but I am going to 17x9 Moto Metal 954 wheels and 35x12.5 17 tires.. Not sure between the BFG Mud Terrains and the Mud Grapplers by nitto.

OK I am going to post this in a couple places ....the NItto grappler question is part of my current debate. I have new 2006 1500 mega cab. It came with 265/70/17. I want to add a 17 x 9 polished alum rim (walker evans) and I am between MAXing out height on stock set up with 295/70/17 Nitto terra grabblers (wish those dunes graps were out then no debate) and a tire I have had past success with BF all terrains but with less height/width 285/70/17.

Hate to hijack a thread (doubt it will happen) BUT any input on which way to go?
