Default Rear window question

I own a 2004 quad cab, bought it used, and it has a solid rear window. I have noticed on some of the newer quad cabs a different rear window configuration. It looks like the back window is divided 40-20-40. Is this a sliding back window or just the new style? I am looking at getting a sliding window, and just was wondering if this is what I should ask for. Thanks!

Yeah, sliding window is an option.
I have one in my 06.. Didn't have one in my 03.
In all honesty, I think the sliding window is USELESS in a QC unless you pony up the ABSURD price for a power sliding window.
You can't reach it while driving, and it's something you'd really want to modulate on all but the HOTTEST days...
If it wasn't part of the package, I wouldn't have one now.. Owned the 06 4 months now, never opened mine.
You can have your window changed to incorporate the sliding window, but it's not cheap....

I actually prefer the clean look of the plain glass window. I just wish mine came tinted from the factory and had the defog/frost stuff added on it.

There is a de-fog option for the rear window?

Yep, I have it on my '03. It works off the same switch that powers the heated side mirrors.

The solid rear window was a feature that I looked for. My last truck had a slider and it was the point of entry for the first break-in it had. As an added bonus I have the defrost package.

I have the slider on my '03 QC and think it's absolutely worthless. Are these easy to remove/install? If so, I'd consider trading with someone for a solid rear window. I'm the only one who's ever in my truck so I couldn't use the slider if I wanted to. You can always add an aftermarket defog grid to a window.

I use my rear slider a lot. I just lay my seat down for a second, reach back to slide it open, then put my seat back up. You
obviously shouldn't do this while driving, but It only takes 5 seconds at a stop sign, or red light. I've even pulled over real quick. Its worth it, nice air movement.
