Disapointed in my new RAM......
yeah you're right I guess since theives need money it's ok. That's one of the most ludacris things I have ever heard. Most of us on this forum need money but we don't steal for it. If someone was stealing my tail gate I would beat them senseless, drive them into the middle of the desert and shoot them in the head execution style. Sure i'll go to jail if I get caught but it's very hard to tie someone to a crime if they have nothing to do with the person.
that wasnt my point. and i dont condone it. its liking killing someone for stealing from you, it feels ok till you get caught and eventuality you do. if the body shops stop buying hot parts and ins. co. stop pushing them to do so.
Im sorry but first off if you spent $50,000 for your truck and your upset over a simple little tailgate lock that is so easy to get. Well you might have some issues. As far as it being "unforgiveable" well I think that is a little harsh. If a thief wants something they are going to get it not matter what, yes a lock is a simple deterant but if they want it they may do more damage than just taking it. I think there are more important things to be worried about. Like spending $50,000. Just my little 2 cents worth.

I can find small items in almost everytruck orpiece of equipment I own that I would change and if it's managable, I'll change it to my liking. What about the lousey standard tires or shocks that we all change out at some time at a much greater cost. The unforgivable act by DC was not being able to unlock the front wheels. No truck I have ever owned had that omission. DC finally corrected that in 07 and I'm sure that increased gas mileage more than the complex cylinder deactivation that I am not sold on. I did the math and at abouttwo grand, it's not worth converting.
TA9864Dodge, Did you even read any words of my post that you specifically responded to? I fully agreed that tailgate locks are valuable and I offered the idea of electronic locks, if you didn't want the key or the appearance of a keyed lock on the rear.

and you know what???? neither of them makes a damn lick of sense and from what i can tell what you wrote in the second one majorly contradicts what was written in the first one.
and if you need money.....
GET A FRIGGIN JOB!!!!!
wow...what a heated conversation. I amputting a lock on mine not mainly to prevent my tailgate getting stolen but to keep the contense i have in there. I will haul expensive boilers in the truck weighing a lot. It takes a fork lift to get them in. If you have the power to somehow lift the boiler over the rails of my truck and carry it away without me catching you, kudos to you. I know what it feels like to get robbed. I had my F250 broken into and they jacked 8,000 worth of stuff. All they had to do was get a screwdriver on the soft plastic door handles right below the lock and hit it. It will jam in and then they pull up the screwdriverand your in. They cleaned me out within 10 min. Sure i was pissed.I caught aguytrying to steal one of my trucks. When i got done with him i leaned himagainst the light pole and then called the cops as i drove away.
Sorry ... not trying to start a battle here but .... The F150 Ford I traded the 03 Ram in on did have a tailgate lock. It also was incapable of towing my 27 foot trailer. Ill spare you the details do a search and Im sure you'll find my post. Long story short ... Blew the rear in a single pull.
I said it before. I owned Chevy, Ford and Dodge. By far, Dodge is the better built truck.
