Mega Cab AC sucks!
ORIGINAL: Drew
the only thing I can say is if you want better A/C performance get an aux. fan and put it on the evaperator to help the engine fan in drawing air over the coils.
if you have the hemi in your MC the ac should be better than my Cummins. the engine fan has to pull air through the radiator, intercooler, a 4 inch space between the IC and rad, with the evaporator in front of all that. air flow over it is not that geat, yet she cools quite well.

Look, we're all overlooking one thing. This is primarily a mega cab issue. The mega cab has the exact same AC as the smaller trucks. Larger cab, more windows = more heat gain.
The suggestion for the aux fan may not be a bad one, but I doubt it would do a ton. I appreciate the thought though.
I know I dont have a megacab or anything like that but just a stupid question though Have you brought your truck down to the Dodge Dealership you bought it from or any dealership for that matter and have them check it out? I agree that having the same A/C unit in a megacab as I do in a Reg.Cab isnt the brightest of ideas but I think its the same in almost every truck on the market now days. If it was my truck and I had a New Mega cab the first thing I'd do would be to check and make sure its not a user error so check all the ***** and and make sure the its set right (I made that mistake myself the first few days I had my 05' cause it wasn't blowing cold air only cool and wasn't blowing as hard either) and after that I'd bring it back to the dealership and tell the dealership the a/c doesn't work and see what they can do. If it was working for a while and then just slowly stopped I'd have them check the compressor/condenser (specialy check the condenser it has a tendancy to freeze on larger trucks which in return causes the A/C to shut off and blow hot air)/and the freon and check the whole system for leaks. And if all else fails Id take it to an a/c shop and see if they can upgrade the system to blow out colder and harder.

I should get a life? I'm not the moron posting on threads that don't concern me, and you're not one of the many that paid $45K for a truck with no AC.
Seriously "dude", think before you type. If your truck had no real AC, you'd feel differently.
You have NO FRIGGIN IDEA HOW SERIOUS THIS PROBLEM IS "DUDE".

haha this is a funny post. I guarantee that they would laugh at you if you wanted to sue them because the AC isnt cold enough. What the hell is is this super serious problem you keep refering to? You start to sweat while u drive? haha. Get a life man, suck it up or else put a bigger fan in the truck or something if its not cold enough
Inspector62, you're preaching to the choir. I have a 02 Ram Quad Cab, 1500- I noticed it when the temperature hit 95 degrees. I thought there was something wrong with the Coolant level, or the AC Condensor. I was told by the Dodge Dealership that, that's the case with the Ram's....But i am sure going to look into your website.
i feel for you and think that dodge should correct the problem on the new mega cabs coming out but to sue a company? what basis do you have? whats the complaint gonna say? "I dont think Dodge put a big enough air conditioner in my truck. I am seeking 3 million" you can be mad about it all you want but they didnt do anything lawsuit-worthy. they werent negligible in any way that caused serious injury or death. my grandmother should sue chevy because her seats are uncomfortable. you see how rediculous that sounds?
This is pretty rediculous anyway, Inspector_62. No matter how you are taking what people are saying to you, they (myself included) are just trying to help you. It's going to take a while to get this resolved and you are going to have to deal with that. A class action lawsuit over an air conditioner is not a feasible idea, no matter how good it sounds to you, sorry to say that. Trashing on people because they don't have a "Mega Cab" isn't going to do anything but make enemies for you here and when you have a genuine problem with a solution that some one can help you with, the people that you are attacking may know the solution but I doubt they will post to help you, especially if they dont have a Mega Cab because that would be a waste of time right? I have said it before but you need to go to the dealership and complain, and anyone else that is having a problem with theirs needs to also, that is the way vehicle manufacturers deal with their problems, they take customer complaints, find a solution and then implement it with a TSB. Drew's idea of adding a fan to help make the condensor colder might help, but I would go to the dealership first because like you said you didn't spend 45K on a truck to have to work out the bugs yourself. Anytime a new body style is brought in there will be bugs, especially the first year and its you and everyone else who has this problems responsiblity to let Dodge know so they fix this problem.
Well I do have a legit problem, and I didn't trash anybody. I got attacked for posting a legit problem.
As far as the class action lawsuits, auto companies have been successfully sued for problems not nearly as serious. All it takes is a little research to learn something on the web.
The purpose of this thread was simple. To get mega cab owners together to put pressure on Dodge to fix this problem. Currently, Dodge knows it is a problem, but refuses to fix it. Only if we organize can we force them to fix it.

If you paid to have AC installed in your home and it was too small to cool the home, would you just sit back and take it? Would it be ok to sue then? Where's the difference?
